Web Sites

Here’s a selection of websites I’ve designed, developed, or maintained over the past two decades. Some were built entirely on my own, while others were created in close collaboration with agencies, nonprofits, and creative teams. Each reflects a thoughtful, user-centered approach and a commitment to clean, sustainable code.

  • Radio Localized

A companion site for my fortnightly KBFG-FM show exploring places through music. Built on Drupal 10, it syncs episode data from Google Sheets and displays each song’s location on an interactive map that flies to new coordinates as the episode plays.

  • Grand Illusion Cinema

Seattle’s oldest independent cinema, run entirely by volunteers. I built a custom WordPress theme and integrated it with the Agile ticketing API so the film calendar updates automatically — dramatically cutting volunteer workload and reducing errors.

  • Dean Sluyter

A two-decade collaboration with author and meditation teacher Dean Sluyter. The site has evolved through ColdFusion, Drupal, and now WordPress with Beaver Builder — always focused on book promotion, media integration, and a streamlined editorial experience.

  • When Money Is Moral

Site for David Mesenbring — author, nonprofit leader, and Episcopal priest. Migrated from Drupal 7 to WordPress with a new design while preserving the visual identity. Shares infrastructure with Dean Sluyter’s site for efficient hosting.

  • U.S. House of Representatives

Lead themer on this CivicActions engagement for the House’s public-facing site. I translated high-fidelity comps into semantic, accessible Drupal 7 templates, with accessibility compliance and cross-device testing at the core.

  • Junk Drawer Photos

A long-running personal photo series exploring literal junk drawers. Built from scratch with vanilla PHP, HTML, CSS, and jQuery — no CMS. A reflection of my interest in documentary-style storytelling and digital ephemera.

  • GlobalNET

A secure federal platform I worked on for nearly two years at CivicActions, handling UX planning through theming. Built in Drupal 7 with a custom responsive grid system. Much of the content remains protected or internal.

  • MTA Countdown Clocks

The first countdown clocks for the NYC Subway in decades. I was lead themer for the visual interface, building pixel-perfect layouts for multiple display formats using Sass, viewport units, flexbox, and React.

  • Oikocredit Northwest

A regional affiliate of Oikocredit UA, a global cooperative providing fair credit to underserved communities. I built their Drupal site with CiviCRM integration for membership management, newsletters, and event calendars.

The Society for Commercial Archeology preserves the 20th-century roadside landscape — diners, drive-ins, neon signs, motor courts. I built their Drupal site with CiviCRM membership, event registration, and a visual timeline.
